Travel Essentials For An International Trip

There’s nothing I love more than an excuse to go shopping for an upcoming trip. And if you’re anything like me, you will throw half of Amazon into your cart, knowing full well you don’t need most of it. But let me save you some time (and a little money) because there are a few items that are absolutely essential for any international trip.

When I took my first solo trip to Morocco, I quickly learned what worked, what didn’t, and what should’ve stayed in the hotel room. So here’s my tried-and-true list of essentials that’ll make your next adventure smooth, stylish, and stress-free.

Universal International Plug

Let me tell you now—if you don’t have the right plug, your devices are about to take an unplanned vacation of their own. An international plug is a must. Get one that works in multiple countries and has USB ports because convenience is the name of the game.

Attachable Sleep Mask/Travel Pillow

Picture this: You’re on a long-haul flight, and the person next to you is really into their bright-screen movie marathon. Enter the attachable sleep mask—your new MVP. It hooks onto the headrest, blocks out all the nonsense, and gives you a first-class nap in coach. I love the way it also holds your head in place so you don’t need to worry about tilting a little too close to your neighbor. Game changer.

Foot Hammock

The way my knees and feet are set up, sitting uncomfortably for hours just isn’t an option. A foot hammock takes long-flight discomfort out of the equation. Hook it to your tray table, kick back, and pretend you’re lounging in business class. Your legs will thank you later.

Bluetooth Adapter

Let’s face it: most planes haven’t caught up with the wireless headphone era. A Bluetooth adapter fixes that real quick. No more wrestling with cords or dealing with questionable sound quality connecting to the airplane tv—you can do all the binging with seamless audio bliss.

3-in-1 Portable Charger

A dead phone in a foreign country? That’s a nightmare I wouldn’t wish on anyone. This 3-in-1 portable charger has built-in chargers for an apple watch, iphone, and airpods—the ultimate trio (sorry Samsung friends). It’s compact, powerful, and keeps all your gadgets alive when you’re out doing the most.

Stainless Steel Water Bottle

Hydration is a form of self-respect. A stainless steel water bottle keeps your drinks cold (or hot) all day, and it’s eco-friendly to boot. Bonus points if you grab one with a built-in filter—perfect for destinations where tap water isn’t the best idea. The way I needed this walking fully covered in the 107 degree weather of Morocco, whew!

Spacious Shoulder Bag

A quality shoulder bag is a travel essential. It needs to fit everything—passport, snacks, portable charger, snacks (yes, again)—while keeping things organized and secure. Go for something with zippers and hidden compartments because nobody has time for pickpockets. Yikes!

Airalo Mobile App

Roaming charges? No, thank you. The Airalo app lets you buy eSIMs for affordable data wherever you’re headed. Staying connected has never been easier, whether you’re posting pictures or mapping your next stop.

WhatsApp

If you’re traveling internationally, WhatsApp is non-negotiable. It’s how you’ll stay in touch with friends, family, and new connections. Free messaging and calls, plus it’s used just about everywhere. Trust me—it’s a lifesaver.

Solo travel is the ultimate adventure, but it’s even better when you’re prepared. These essentials kept my first solo trip smooth, stress-free, and way more fun. Whether you’re navigating a bustling market or chilling at a café, this gear has got your back.

Got a travel must-have I missed? Drop it in the comments—I’m always looking to level up my packing game.

Safe travels friends! 🌍✈️
